Oriental Rug Cleaning in Spring, TX

Hand-knotted, hand-tufted, and antique pieces each get a pre-cleaning inspection for fiber composition and dye stability. Nothing touches the rug until we know what we're working with.

The Safe Way to Clean!

No One is More Natural than Safe-Dry® When it Comes to Cleaning

The SAFE way to clean your carpets, upholstery, and rugs that keeps them cleaner up to 4x longer and dries up to 8x faster, backed by the industry's BEST GUARANTEE.

Oriental rugs aren't like other floor coverings. They're often handmade, sometimes generations old, and constructed with fibers and dyes that react badly to the wrong cleaning method. A steam cleaner that works fine on wall-to-wall carpet can bleed colors, shrink wool, and damage fringe on an oriental rug in minutes. That's why oriental rug cleaning requires a different process entirely.

At Safe-Dry Carpet Cleaning of Spring, TX, we clean oriental rugs with a low-moisture, chemical-free method that protects fine fibers while still pulling out the dirt, allergens, and odors that settle deep into the pile. Our approach is designed for the kinds of rugs that deserve careful handling, hand-knotted Persian rugs, Turkish kilims, Chinese silk pieces, Indian dhurries, and everything in between.

Why oriental rug cleaning in Spring, Texas matters

Here in Spring, Texas, humidity is a constant. That moisture in the air affects oriental rugs in ways most people don't think about. Natural fibers like wool and silk absorb moisture from the environment, and when that combines with embedded dirt and organic matter, it creates conditions where odors develop and fibers weaken.

The other thing we see a lot in this area is pet-related damage. Dogs and cats are drawn to area rugs, and accidents happen. Pet urine is particularly damaging to oriental rugs because it can alter the dyes permanently if it isn't treated quickly and correctly. The acids in urine interact with natural dyes in ways that synthetic carpet dyes can usually resist.

Regular cleaning prevents these problems from getting ahead of you. It also helps preserve the value of the rug, which matters if you own pieces that have been in the family for years or that you paid good money for.

Our oriental rug cleaning process

Every oriental rug gets individual attention. We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach because that's how rugs get damaged.

1. Detailed inspection. We examine the rug's construction, fiber type, dye stability, and condition. We look for areas of wear, color bleeding risk, fringe damage, and any existing stains. This tells us exactly how to handle your specific rug.

2. Controlled pre-treatment. We apply a gentle, pH-balanced pre-treatment to areas that need extra attention. This loosens embedded dirt without putting stress on delicate fibers or dyes. High-traffic areas and stains get targeted treatment here.

3. Low-moisture deep cleaning. Our patented hypoallergenic solution is worked into the pile with controlled agitation. It lifts dirt, oils, and allergens out of the fibers without saturating the foundation. This is especially important for hand-knotted rugs, where excess moisture can cause foundation rot and shrinkage.

4. Targeted stain and odor treatment. Stubborn stains and pet odors get specialized treatment. For pet urine, we use enzyme-based solutions that break down the odor-causing compounds at the source. For food and beverage stains, we use oxidizing treatments that lift the discoloration without affecting the surrounding dye.

5. Fiber and fringe restoration. We groom the pile to restore its natural direction and appearance. Fringe gets careful attention to remove embedded dirt without causing damage. The goal is to make the rug look the way it did when it was at its best.

6. Controlled drying. Because we use minimal moisture throughout, most oriental rugs dry within a few hours. Fast drying prevents color migration and protects the foundation of the rug. In Spring's humid climate, this matters even more than usual.

In-home and in-plant options

We clean most oriental rugs right in your home. Our low-moisture process makes this practical and mess-free. For rugs that need more involved treatment, heavily contaminated pieces, rugs with dye instability, or extremely valuable antiques, we offer in-plant cleaning with pick-up and delivery.

We'll always be upfront about which option makes more sense for your specific rug. If it can be done safely in your home, that's what we'll recommend. If it needs the controlled environment of our facility, we'll explain why.

What types of oriental rugs can you clean?

We handle the full range of oriental and specialty rugs, including:

  • Hand-knotted Persian rugs (Tabriz, Isfahan, Kashan, Heriz)
  • Turkish rugs and kilims
  • Chinese silk and wool rugs
  • Indian dhurries and hand-tufted pieces
  • Antique and heirloom rugs
  • Machine-made oriental reproductions

Each type has its own quirks. Silk rugs can't handle the same agitation as wool. Antique vegetable dyes react differently than modern synthetic dyes. We adjust our process for every piece.

If you have a standard area rug that's not oriental, our area rug cleaning service covers those with the same careful approach.

Protecting your oriental rug investment

Oriental rugs hold their value when they're maintained properly. Between professional cleanings, these habits help:

  • Vacuum regularly with a low-suction setting and no beater bar
  • Rotate the rug every few months to even out sun exposure and wear
  • Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth
  • Keep the rug out of direct sunlight to prevent fading
  • Use a quality rug pad underneath for cushioning and airflow

Professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months keeps most oriental rugs in excellent condition. Homes with pets or heavy foot traffic may benefit from more frequent service.

Our technician Trevor was so nice. We had a hefty job for him and yet he still worked extremely hard to make things nice again for us. He cleaned our large game room, hallways, stairs and one couch. The couch still had some smell on it after he cleaned it but when I pointed it out he went back downstairs and grabbed the stuff and cleaned it again for us to try to be sure it was resolved. As a lot of the other reviews said, The quote I was given on the phone was much lower than what it cost. I was told on the phone $85 for pet cleaning, $40 per room and $20 per hallway. Which would have sat my floor cost at $145, it ended up being $399 for my floors. The stairs cost $105 and the upholstery was $150 per couch. (Keep in mind I only asked for a quote on the floors not the stairs and couch) Aside from that, which I was already expecting from previous reviews- it was a great experience. Waiting for the couch to dry to ensure it is cleaned as well as I hope! All of the pictures I shared are before. Every stain is gone now (I’m just not home to take a photo of it)
